Action Breakdown #6: Love Interests

You know them and you love them. The love interest. The womanly touch that every action movie has. The one to give that other kind of “action”. The lady that needs rescuing or maybe does some of the rescuing. Every action movie has one and we are going to take a look at what makes them so memorable.

Be Hot: That’s pretty much a given. An attractive love interest always works. Whether it’s a random redheaded Ukrainian chick in Transporter 3 or Patsy Kensit in Lethal Weapon 2, it always works if they are smokin in order to distract our hero.

Get Kidnapped: One of the main objectives of a love interest is to get kidnapped and provide the villain an advantage over the hero. She can also just be in trouble all the way throughout. Amy Smart in the Crank films getting in numerous amounts of shitty situations. Pretty much every woman who is dating, screwing, or married to either Stallone, Willis, Statham, or Van Damme will get kidnapped or hurt in some way. They almost get kidnapped as often as the hero’s daughter.

Kick Ass: If getting kidnapped is too cliché, then have your love interest be the ass kicker. Rene Russo in Lethal Weapon is a great example. Attractive, assertive, strong, and knows her way around a gun. She’s no damsel in distress.

So there you have it. The sexiest installment of the Action Breakdown yet. The sexy women behind the action heroes that make their constant dangerous actions that much more meaningful.

About the Author

My name is Omar and I love action movies. I grew up loving action films thanks in part to my father who would deliver a healthy dose of Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Willis, and Seagal in my movie diet. Ever since then, I continue to love the genre more and more and go along perfectly with my love for the horror genre. What other movie genre can specialize in giving you pure adrenaline and excitement in every turn?
