Legends of Action: Mario Kassar

BirthDate: October 10, 1951

There have been some great action movie producers over the years, so I want to show some love to the guys who’ve helped create some of my favourite movies.

My first has to be Mario Kassar.

Kassar would frequently produce movies with business partner Andrew G. Vajna while working for Columbia Pictures and TriStar Pictures. He founded Carolco Pictures where he was executive producer of many films, including the Rambo series, Total Recall, Terminator 2, Universal Soldier, Stargate and many more. He has also been nominated for 12 Academy Awards.

While growing up, if I saw his name in the opening credits of a movie I knew I was in for a treat. He really helped define the action genre and to this day I’d struggle to find anyone with such a great track record (Apart from maybe Jerry Bruckheimer or Joel Silver).

If you haven’t seen any of the above listed movies then quite frankly you are on the wrong site but if you are interested I’d recommend: The Terminator movies, Rambo movies, Universal Soldier, Total Recall & Stargate as they are classic actioners.

How’s THIS for a filmography?
