Mother/Daughter Action Movies

One thing I want to see in action movies more often are mother-daughter teams. We’ve always had father-son and father-daughter type action movies that the mother is almost always absent or just in trouble. I demand more ass kicking moms along with some ass kicking daughters. A more action oriented version of Heartbreakers if I can describe it.

The relationship between a mother and her daughter is a special one and an action movie where the mother or daughter has to rescue the other and depend on each other to beat the bad guys is something I want to see used more often. Of course, we’ve had movies like the Long Kiss Goodnight, Aliens (motherly relationship counts), and Kill Bill has good examples of that, but I’m talking both characters in action. I’m talking the mom being an assassin and the daughter training to be like her. No kidnappings or any of that. I’m talking mom and daughter whooping henchmen ass everywhere. I know that it might sound exploitative on paper, but it can easily be a family oriented yet violent and entertaining action film. The Long Kiss Goodnight and Aliens were the closest ones to reach that kind of vision, but there is certainly room for more. Even Live Free or Die Hard teased at that kind pairing only with a father, but its close.

It is a slightly fresh idea that hasn’t been completely explored yet that can certainly provide some potentially fun action movies in the future.

About the Author

My name is Omar and I love action movies. I grew up loving action films thanks in part to my father who would deliver a healthy dose of Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Willis, and Seagal in my movie diet. Ever since then, I continue to love the genre more and more and go along perfectly with my love for the horror genre. What other movie genre can specialize in giving you pure adrenaline and excitement in every turn?
