My Thoughts: Starship Troopers Remake

I can safely say that Starship Troopers is one of my favorite movies of all time. The satire, the effects, the characters, the Dina Meyer boobage, and the gore work so seamlessly in this film and just makes it one of the most entertaining movies I’ve ever sat through. Of course, a remake has been announced for Starship Troopers and I don’t see the point.

The original works so well as a satire and an action/sci-fi movie that it defines the term unnecessary. Apparently, it’s going to be less violent which already drops major points for me. Why bother with the movie if you’re not going to deliver the goods in terms of the violently epic bug battles?

They’re also going to have less satire in the movie, but more patriotism. I love patriotism, but why cut out the satire? Is it because people today won’t get it? Is it because they can’t replicate it? Why bother if you’re not going to incorporate one of the shining highlights of what made the original great? Granted, I haven’t read the book the movie is based on, but as a fan of the original film, I can’t bring myself to support this.

About the Author

Omar
My name is Omar and I love action movies. I grew up loving action films thanks in part to my father who would deliver a healthy dose of Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Willis, and Seagal in my movie diet. Ever since then, I continue to love the genre more and more and go along perfectly with my love for the horror genre. What other movie genre can specialize in giving you pure adrenaline and excitement in every turn?
