So, today I want to bring to your attention an up and coming talent: Taj L. Cooper. He sent me a short student film showcasing some great martial arts and action scenes. It was shot on a tiny budget and is called “Outnumbered”. Taj directed, cut and even starred in the film.

Personally I think Taj has a great career ahead of him. “Outnumbered” has some really nice direction and the editing is top notch. The whole film is 10 minutes of action badassery. Taj shows he has a great visual style and knows how to shoot a kick ass action scene.

The thing I loved the most about it, is it has a girl kicking ass: Kecee Mate.  There are never enough women in action movies, so I’d love to see Kecee make a name for herself by beating the crap out of plenty of bad guys in the future.

Kecee Mate

I especially enjoyed the nods to the “Crank” movies with Chev Chelio’s ringtone and some of the music.  The fight choreography was great and considering this is a student film, it’s better than a lot of big budget crap that is being released nowadays.

From these photos alone you can tell the visual style is great, with flashes of Tony Scott and the Matrix but with it’s own individual style.

Somebody give this man a budget because I’d pay to see any of his films. Good luck Taj and a great career in movies awaits.

So without further ado here is the short flm “Outnumbered” for your entertainment, enjoy!
