Sam Worthington: The Next Action Hero?

I’ll probably get a load of flack for this but I don’t care, so I’m just gonna come out and say it.  I think Sam Worthington is a great action star.  Although he isn’t the best at an American accent, who cares? Was Arnie? Nope, but he still kicked ass.

Worthington does have the action hero intensity where you believe he could kick your ass, in the same vein that Jason Statham could.  Check out the Modern Warfare ads (below) and you’ll see what I mean.

Most of the movies he’s done so far have been PG-13 (Avatar, Clash of the Titans, Terminator Salvation, etc) but I think he could still do with that good old fashioned, R-Rated action franchise. I personally would have liked a follow-up to Salvation, without trying to appeal to the family market, cos guess what? It didn’t work with Salvation, which was why it failed. Terminator isn’t for kids (just like Die Hard) so stop trying to water it down.

Anyway, Worthington is an old-school tough guy, he always looks ready to beat the crap out of someone and that’s what an action hero is meant to be.  Hell, make a Call of Duty film and cast him in it, because he rocks in those ads (best thing he’s done so far.)
