10 of the Best: Funniest Death Scenes

Death isn’t something that is necessarily a source for comedy. However, if it’s done right (in a bad way), it can be one of the most hilarious things you will ever see. Here’s the top ten death scenes in action films that just bring a smile on my face or even some tears of laughter:

10. Hard Target to Hawaii I haven’t even seen this movie and I had to include it to the list. This particular death scene was too good to pass up as it could possibly be one of the greatest death scenes ever. It involves a skateboarder who plans to kill our heroes using a skateboard and a blow up doll for protection I guess. I didn’t know blow up dolls were used for that purpose. Well, let’s just say it ends with one of the best double whammys in history.

9. You’re Fired Gotta love Schwarzenegger and his penchant for one liners when killing baddies. This one is one of his most underrated and one of his funnier kill scenes. The delivery and the resulting explosion just work perfectly.

8. Kurt Russell Bringing It Back I love Big Trouble in Little China. It’s so gloriously over the top and just a ball of fun. It also features some great death scenes. The best has to be when Jack Burton kills the main villain Lo Pan with ease using Pan’s own knife. It comes so quick that I can’t but laugh when it happens. Pure badass.

7. O-Ren Ishii Makes It Rain When Lucy Liu cut that guy’s head off in the office after making reference of her mixed race, that was certainly an underrated little slice of comedy. When the geyser of blood shoots out of that guy’s neck, then you know you are in for a great time.

6. You shot Marvin! Probably one of the best uses of a gory death for comedic value ever. It’s just how the death is presented. Not only is it a great shock moment, but it’s utterly hilarious just for how it was carried out. Seeign Vincent and Jules freak out was just the icing on the cake.

5. Frank Castle Blows Them Away It seems that rocket based deaths are the best because there are three of them on this list. This one is probably one of the most random and goofiest of them all especially in a movie like Punisher: War Zone which is over the top to the max. Frank Castle doesn’t like seeing people messing with his roofs so he delivers one of those jumpers an explosive welcome.

4. AUGHAHAGAH!!! The original Total Recall showcased some really impressive special effects. However, the effect that is most ingrained in my mind is when you Arnold or Ronny Cox bugging the hell out when gasping for air in the Mars atmosphere. The effects used here are so freaky looking, but they bring me more joy than terror. Add Arnold’s trademark scream and you have comedy gold.

3. Sam Jackson Gets Interrupted We all know to never interrupt Samuel Jackson ever. Unless you’re a shark, then in which case you can do it and get a tasty meal at the same time. This death scene caught me by surprise when I first saw Deep Blue Sea back in the day. It was certainly unexpected, but it gave me a huge laugh because of how it was laid out.

2. Enter the Ninja This movie is one of the best unintentionally funny movies out there. Everything about it just screams “Laugh at me”. This death scene is particular has been immortalized to Youtube and rightfully so. The method of death isn’t the punchline, but rather the expression of the man that dies. Where is his Oscar?

1. Indiana Jones Shoots First Indiana Jones is the man. Harrison Ford is also the man. Spielberg knew that so what better way to prove it than to have him nonchalantly shoot a swordsman ready to battle. Never bring a sword to a gun fight indeed.

My name is Omar and I love action movies. I grew up loving action films thanks in part to my father who would deliver a healthy dose of Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Willis, and Seagal in my movie diet. Ever since then, I continue to love the genre more and more and go along perfectly with my love for the horror genre. What other movie genre can specialize in giving you pure adrenaline and excitement in every turn?
