The Next Great Adventure?

One of my favourite kinds of action movie has always been the Adventure genre; Indiana Jones, The Mummy, etc, but like so many other genres there hasn’t been a new (decent) Adventure movie for a while. There was talk of an Uncharted movie starring Mark Wahlberg a while back but it fell through. At this stage I’d even settle for a new National Treasure or Tomb Raider movie. I just enjoy the genre so much; it provides great escapism and makes the world seem like a more interesting place than it really is.

There will never be an adventure movie that reaches the lofty heights of Raiders of the Lost Ark, but I think an Uncharted movie could really work if in the right hands. I’m a huge fan of Mark Wahlberg but he just didn’t feel right as Nathan Drake. Fanboy favourite Nathan Fillion wanted the role but even he is too old for it. Do you guys have any suggestions about who could play Nathan Drake? How about Gerard Butler? If only he could hide the Glasgow accent better. Bradley Cooper? Maybe too much of a pretty boy. Jensen Ackles from Supernatural? Possibly. Sam Worthington? Hmm I dunno.

Either way, I want a new Adventure series; something that creates such escapism and excitement the way that Indiana Jones could… oh, what about Indiana Jones 5? Just don’t let Lucas near it.
