Actress Yvette Yates (El Gringo) has signed on to star in The Devil’s Ink, “an all-action pic cram full of bikers, gangsters, felons, and a tattoo shop” according to Se Fija! Online.
Yvette will be starring with Robert LaSardo, Richard Cabral and Sandra Vergara. The film is directed and written by Kenny Gage and Devon Downs.
In a conversation with Si Fija!, Yvette discusses how she will celebrating Latino Heritage Month as part of a special panel in her home town of El Paso, Texas, September 26 at El Paso Community College (EPCC).
“I am excited to be in great company on this panel with famed director Luis Mandoki and recording artist and Navy veteran B. Taylor. I will be sharing my experiences as a Latina actress in Hollywood, and with that I carry a piece of the Lupe Ontiveros legacy in my heart, as she was also from my hometown of El Paso. She was a great inspiration, and I want people to see that we are progressing, our roles are evolving, but we can continue to forge ahead only by continuing to create and support one another.
“It is also a special event because my father, Dr. Carlos Yates, a professor at EPCC, helped put this panel together with the help of Christopher Velasquez and El Diario de El Paso newspaper. In everything I do, I want people to know that I am proud to be from the bordertown of El Paso, TX/Cd. Juarez, Chihuahua; I feel a responsibility to represent it in the brightest light, so I come there with pride as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage month!”
