2013: Return of the Action Hero

So today I got to see Arnie make his glorious return to action in The Last Stand and half way through the film I had a gigantic smile on my face.

I was watching Arnie on screen and kicking ass just like the good old days. It wasn’t that the film was just OK either, it was a blast but it just felt like I was back in the 80s again watching an action hero kicking ass and asking questions later.

Even before the movie started the trailers were for Bullet to the Head, Parker, A Good Day to Die Hard, Snitch and GI Joe: Retaliation. All of them are old school action movies and all are coming out in the next couple of months.

Bullet to the Head is arguably my most anticipated movie of the year, why? Stallone and Walter Hill together at last. Hill is my favourite director and I just know I’m gonna love the movie.

Just think, in 3 weeks John McClane will be back on screen kicking R rated ass in A Good Day to Die Hard. And it’s not some watered down PG-13 crap, but a proper Die Hard film again.

The studios have listened to our incessant and often annoying whining; I think it’s time to stop moaning and to say a big THANK YOU to Hollywood for listening to action fans and giving us our action heroes back.

Hollywood has done their part but the big question is will you? We’ve finally got a return to old school, classic action so don’t watch the movies online or wait for DVD; get your ass to the cinema, grab your buddies and enjoy seeing our heroes on screen again. Action is back but let’s make sure it’s back for good and keep action alive forever.
