Sean Connery Turns Down Expendables 3

Expendables Premiere is reporting that Sir Sean Connery was approached for a role in Expendables 3.

SIR Sean Connery has turned down Sylvester Stallone’s offer of a big screen farewell in the next Expendables movie. The 007 legend was asked by Stallone and director Simon West to join stars including Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis in a £610,000 role next year.

But the actor, 82, knocked back the invitation. His spokesman yesterday insisted: “Sir Sean is officially retired — sorry.”

Stallone assembled a star-studded line-up including Schwarzenegger, Willis, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Jason Statham and Chuck Norris for The Expendables 2 in the summer. But he wants to go bigger and better for the next flick in the series, set to be screened in 2014.

West admitted he’d “love to have Sean Connery”. He added: “Sean Connery would be great to bring back from retirement.”

West and Stallone are plotting to lure Clint Eastwood, Nicolas Cage, Harrison Ford, and troubled stars Mel Gibson and Wesley Snipes into starring in a third romp. Sly said: “I like Mel. He has been a good friend. We’ve got Nicolas Cage to play one of the characters.

“We’ve approached Clint Eastwood, we’re talking to Harrison Ford. And we want Wesley Snipes when he comes back from prison for tax evasion.”

Can’t say it’s exactly surprising news, but it would have been great to see him on screen one more time. I still think it was a shame he didn’t cameo in Indy 4.
