Sean Penn: Action Hero?

Apparently so; Sean Penn has signed on to star in Prone Gunman, directed by Pierre Morel. You may remember him from directing such films as the little known movie called Taken. It appears Penn is following Liam Neeson’s lead by starring in this adaptation of the novel by Jean-Patrick Manchette.

The film will be shooting around Europe this summer and will no doubt be out next year.

The plot centers on an international operative named Martin Terrier (Penn) who is betrayed by the organization he works for and must go on the run in a relentless game of cat-and-mouse across Europe.

I didn’t think Sean Penn would be interested in doing something so commercial, but after Gangster Squad’s success maybe he’s enjoying the taste of public popularity. I’m intrigued to see what this film will be like and look forward to a trailer.
