What I Want to See in a Batman Reboot

I was a big fan of what Nolan did with the Batman mythos, but he’s done with the series now and a reboot will be in the post in the next few years.

There have been rumours circulating that Warner Bros. have purchased domain names for an Arkham Asylum movie, based on the popular video games.

I just want to say HELL YES to that idea; while Nolan enjoyed exploring the psyche of Bruce Wayne, let’s face it, there was a lot of talking in the movies and not enough Batman beating up bad guys. So here’s what I’d like to see in the new Batman series.

More Batman; a strange request indeed, but I want him to spend more time in alleyways scaring criminals, doing detective work and frankly having a bit more action.

The Batman costume from the Arkham Asylum games; it looks like the comic with the grey and blue, but also looks utterly badass. It doesn’t need to be black/grey to work in a live action movie.

Different villains: We’ve seen The Joker, The Riddler and Bane and obviously I’d always like to see different incarnations of the characters, but there are plenty of other villains I’d like to see done. Clayface, Deadshot, The Ventriloquist/Scarface and most importantly Harley Quinn. I’d love to see her and The Joker together as it’s something we haven’t seen in one of the live action Batsy movies.

Less realism, more comic book: Nolan has already done the realistic take on Batman, so let’s make it more fantastical; having villains like Clayface, etc would definitely be something new. I’d probably make them side characters as the general public may not know the lesser characters.

I’d love the visual style to be something like Sin City; remember that cool French fan film they did Ashes to Ashes? The visual style in that was stunning and I’d love to see something like that.

As I said in a previous blog, I also wouldn’t mind seeing a Batman Beyond live action film; we have the technology today to make it work and it would be something genuinely fresh with a whole new rogues gallery to choose from.

So there’s my two cents on the matter, but what do you guys want to see from a future Batman series? Would you like to see an Arkham style movie?
