The Escape From New York Remake is Back on and It’s a Trilogy?

It’s been a while since we last heard news on the Escape From New York remake. Last I heard, Breck Eisner (The Crazies remake) was set to direct and names such as Tom Hardy and Gerard Butler were up for the iconic role of Snake Plissken made famous by Kurt Russell. So it seems the remake is back on with mega producer Joel Silver getting control on the rights with Studio Canal and plans to make it a trilogy as well.

I love Escape From New York and consider an 80’s classic and over all action classic. Like many, I don’t want to see a remake, but I just have to go with the flow and accept that it’s happening. All I can hope for now is that they get a good director and actor to take on the Plissken role and they can do the source material justice and offer some new stuff as well. Who do you think would be a great choice to direct the remake and which actor would be perfect to play Snake Plissken?

About the Author

My name is Omar and I love action movies. I grew up loving action films thanks in part to my father who would deliver a healthy dose of Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Willis, and Seagal in my movie diet. Ever since then, I continue to love the genre more and more and go along perfectly with my love for the horror genre. What other movie genre can specialize in giving you pure adrenaline and excitement in every turn?
