One Tough Bastard vs. Stone Cold

As you may have guessed I’m kind of a Brian Bosworth tip today. One Tough Bastard and Stone Cold are his two most popular movies and I love them both, but which one is the better movie? Let the games begin!

This was the first Brian Bosworth movie I saw back in the 90s; North American fans may know the film as One Man’s Justice which is a far less interesting title. The story is about Sgt. John North (Bosworth), a man whose wife and family are murdered; he plots revenge only to find out that the killer is under Federal protection and he must exact his own form of justice. The movie has some pretty decent Hard R violence and Bosworth has plenty of charisma so you’re rooting for him right from the start. You’ve got Bruce Payne as the bad guy who is always more hammy than scary. There is the odd pacing issue but Bosworth is pretty badass in this movie; although he does beat up bad guys, he does try to use non lethal means and to be a positive influence on a young boy. It has a satisfying finale and plenty of arms end up being broken. Here’s a select few action scenes below, sadly only available in German, but who cares? ass kicking is awesome in any language.

See what a umm… positive influence he is? He only shoots guys in the legs and breaks arms, he’s a pussycat! Anyway, One Tough Bastard has plenty of action to be a thoroughly good time.

There are actually no words for how much I love this movie; Bosworth plays Joe Huff a tough, go-it-alone cop with a flair for infiltrating dangerous biker gangs. The FBI blackmail Joe into an undercover operation to convict some extremely violent bikers, who are angry at the capture of their leader.

Did I mention that the leader is LANCE HENRIKSEN? That’s right! AND you’ve also got William Forsythe as a particularly nasty henchman. This movie has bone crunching action, a strip club scene and a pretty spectacular finale. It has an awesome electric guitar flavoured action score and Brian Bosworth is at his most badass.

Lance is clearly having a ball as the villain and when I spoke to him a few months ago he was saying what a good time he had in the role. Originally his character was going to be quoting the bible constantly but Lance said that people don’t speak like that and wanted to make him feel more real.

And the winner is… STONE COLD; for me this movie just rocks my friggin socks off. The action, the music and the gratuitous nudity all hit a home run and Bosworth is rocking one of the most epic mullets of all time. On a side note Brian Bosworth was my first interview for this site so I will always salute him for keeping action alive.
