Jason Statham Wants to Make a Movie with Nolan and Scorsese!

We all know who Jason Statham is and what he means to the action genre. Movies like Safe, the Crank series, and The Expendables have cemented him in the lexicon of action icons. We all love what he does.

However, we can’t ignore that Statham’s career isn’t exactly the most varied filmography in the world and he has gotten his fair share of complaints about doing the same kind of movie over and over again. Well, it seems like Statham wants to go to other directors to expand his wings a little more.

After his work in Redemption where he is getting praise for his acting in the lead role, he talked to a UK magazine named This Is Lancashire regarding his career thus far and he admits to making the same films all the time. So he has spoken interest in starring in movies with Nolan or Scorsese in the future for future roles.

While I love Statham and his niche is certainly kicking ass, I do like that he is trying to do something different. People don’t give him enough credit when it comes to his acting ability. Films like Redemption, The Bank Job, and Safe have showcased that he is capable of doing more than just punching people to a pulp and snagging roles in a movie with Nolan or Scorsese could be his ticket for a bigger future. It’s not the first time that a action star has sought for a different direction to prove their acting abilities. Stallone did it in Cop Land, Rourke did it for The Wrestler and Van Damme did it in JCVD. It’s not uncommon to see action stars to try other genres and I encourage that. Having action stars star in low key dramas or even action dramas can help show people that they are capable of more than just shooting guns and maybe showcase why we love these guys so much in our own genre.

Who knows what the future might bring for Statham if this comes to fruition so we will just wait and see. In the meanwhile, expect him to kick more ass in Fast 7 in the near future.

Omar
My name is Omar and I love action movies. I grew up loving action films thanks in part to my father who would deliver a healthy dose of Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Willis, and Seagal in my movie diet. Ever since then, I continue to love the genre more and more and go along perfectly with my love for the horror genre. What other movie genre can specialize in giving you pure adrenaline and excitement in every turn?
