Breaking Bats: Is Bryan Cranston the New Lex Luthor?

With the announcement that Daredevil (Ben Affleck) would be playing Batman in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman film, rumours are now swirling about who will play Superman’s nemesis Lex Luthor.

Apparently Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston has signed a 6 picture deal to play the greatest criminal mind of our time, which includes a role in the elusive Justice League movie.

It hasn’t been confirmed yet but it’s being reported that an official announcement will be made once Cranston is finishing with the final season of Breaking Bad.

Personally, I think this is a great choice; Cranston is a fantastic actor and with his popular TV show coming to end, it’s a nice step to move into a HUGE blockbuster series. He can be extremely menacing and it would be good to see Lex played as rather scary and opportunistic rather than comic relief.

The way I see it is after the cataclysmic events of Man of Steel Lex should be uniting the people of Metropolis in turning against Superman, blaming him for causing all of the destruction.

I haven’t really given an opinion on Affleck as Batman yet because I have no idea what he will be like; I would of course have preferred Scott Adkins because I want to see a more athletic Batman but Affleck isn’t a bad actor… just bland and forgettable. Either way, I will hold off judgment until I see a trailer.
