Ethan Hunt vs. Sean Ambrose – Mission: Impossible II

I’ve always loved this fight scene, simply for the fact that both Tom Cruise and Dougray Scott would clearly be very dead after jumping off the motorbikes, crashing into each other and falling off what looks like a pretty steep cliff. But logic has no place in this dojo, ass-kicking does and this is why M:I 2 is my favourite of the series.

John Woo directs every scene with sheer class and this final fight is nice and brutal. It’s also the first R Rated M:I film, if I’m not mistaken.

Cruise’s Ethan Hunt and Scott’s Sean Ambrose beat nine colours of shit out of each other in this fight with kicks to the face and genuine punches too. I remember at the time of release Scott admitted that he actually punched Tom Cruise in the face and they kept it in the movie as it helped make it look more authentic.

For the record Hans Zimmer’s score to this movie is one of his very best with masculine electric guitars pounding away during the epic motorcycle chase.

Sure it’s all ridiculous but it’s Mission: Impossible, that’s the point. Now enjoy this thoroughly satisfying beatdown below.
