Ian McDiarmid Confirms He’s NOT in Episode VII

There have been rumours going around for several weeks now regarding Star Wars: Episode VII and what characters may return to the franchise. So while at the FanExpo over the weekend I managed to have a brief chat with Ian McDiarmid, better known as Emperor Palpatine from the Star Wars Saga.

I thought I’d try my luck and asked if he had been approached to return to the saga in any way for the upcoming Trilogy. He replied “Well, I was very dead at the end of Return of the Jedi, so I can’t conceive of any way they would bring Palpatine back. As far as I’m concerned it’s very doubtful.”

So that should put that rumour to rest; I think bringing him back, even in ghost form would be a bad idea. There have been other suggestions like clones but that is just lame.

I personally would like new villains and leave Palpatine where he belongs… in tiny pieces floating through space.
