Why Statham Would Make a Great Bond

I know what you’re gonna say; he’s BALD! He can’t be James Bond! My response is sure he can! Who cares if he’s bald? Daniel Craig was blonde and look how popular he has been, the biggest Bond yet. His hairline isn’t important, what he can bring to the role is what really matters.

All you need to do is look at that picture to the left and you’ll see he can look the part no problem at all. The ladies all love him and he could give us another different type of Bond to the screen. He pretty much already played Bond in The Transporter movies so he’s had a pretty successful trial run.

Audiences aren’t looking for the classic Bond with the “Shaken not stirred” lines anymore so what he drinks doesn’t really matter. That’s not to say it shouldn’t have humour though. Statham is great with the one-liners and I think he could bring a bit of humour and personality back to the character.

He can play cold and ruthless without a problem and I think he has real authenticity. You’d believe that he could kill without question and the fact that he is naturally tough looking also helps.

The Stath can also look world weary and cynical but he can have sophistication and charm when needed too. He may not have the posh accent but that’s where it would be refreshingly different and maybe more believable.

Statham already has fighting skills and it would be great to see Bond have a great punch up again, something sorely lacking from the finale of Skyfall.

One of the main things Statham doesn’t get enough credit for is the fact that he is actually a good actor. Watch Redemption/Hummingbird or The Bank Job and you’ll see there’s much more to him than just ass-kicking.

So there you go; that’s why I think Jason Statham could be a great 007; it’ll never happen but it’s a fun idea…
