Why James Wan is a Great Choice for Fast Seven

As we all know, it seems like Fast Seven (or Fast and Furious 7, whatever they name it) is going to be possibly the biggest film in the heist/car franchise. Not only are we getting our heroes Vin Diesel and Paul Walker, there’s also possibly Dwayne Johnson returning and the addition of a new villain in Jason Statham.

Don’t forget the inclusions of Tony Jaa and Kurt Russell. It looks like this might be the best one yet based on the talent on display. However, there’s one man that people seem to be forgetting that is also a big part in this project: James Wan.

We all know Wan as a horror director mostly with his movies including the first Saw, Insidious, and most recently the successful The Conjuring. Well, it is a little weird to see a mostly horror-centric director helm a movie based around a huge blockbuster franchise, but it could end up for the better.

For anyone who has seen James Wan’s revenge thriller Death Sentence, he can certainly bring the needed thrills for the action genre. He has his own style and his horror movies show a skill for camera angles and a certain look. Plus, he directed one hell of a tracking shot chase scene in Death Sentence that is very impressive.

I for one am excited to see James Wan take the helm to this entry in the popular franchise. It might inject some new blood and energy to the franchise and with the cast it has attained thus far, it could only deliver the goods in a great way.

About the Author

My name is Omar and I love action movies. I grew up loving action films thanks in part to my father who would deliver a healthy dose of Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Willis, and Seagal in my movie diet. Ever since then, I continue to love the genre more and more and go along perfectly with my love for the horror genre. What other movie genre can specialize in giving you pure adrenaline and excitement in every turn?

Remake.  It’s a very dirty word for film fans everywhere.  I don’t mind it so much, as, let’s be honest, it’s become a film type all its own. Now, everyone will tell you that the original is always better.  That’s ...
