Short Film: Tears At Dawn

Remember this name: Jordan Kerfeld. After watching this short film you’ll understand why, because this man is going to have a great career in movies. At least, he damn well better do. Kerfield has written and directed this short film which you really need to see ASAP.

The story is as follows: After two successful tours in the Middle East where he received training in the deadly hand-to-hand combat of Kali and Escrima, Force Recon Marine Corpsman Arthur Orange finds himself adjusting to the domestic life with his little sister Mya. When she sneaks out to get ice cream and is subsequently kidnapped, Arthur must venture out for a turbulent night of blood, sweat and tears to return her to safety. TEARS AT DAWN is a candy-colored thrill ride about one man’s quest to re-unite his family by any means necessary.

What ensues is a 6 versus 1 street fight which is never anything less than thrilling. The choreography is excellent and it looks like genuine punches and kicks were thrown. No shaky cam or CG here. This is the kind of filmmaker I really admire because he has a great visual-style, giving an almost otherworldly quality to the action but keeping the fights realistic and visceral.

Aaron Alexander is an extremely likeable lead and reminds me a little of Michael Jai White, so keep an eye on this guy as he also has a great career ahead of him.

I like the music too by Nathan Noise, which really kicks in during the fights, helping to create a kinetic energy.

But enough waffling from me, check out the short film Tears At Dawn below.
