Whatever Happened to XXX 3: The Return of Xander Cage?

Although it’s not about win any awards, the first XXX starring Vin Diesel was a lot of fun with some great action scenes, the same can’t be said for part 2. It had a few entertaining moments but overall it was pretty poor.

Remember back in 2010 Samuel L. Jackson was ready to return as Xander Cage’s handler Augustus Gibbons AKA “Scarface”. Then… nothing. Another 12 Fast & Furious movies went into production and we even got a third live action Riddick movie. So why has Xander Cage not returned yet?

The story was apparently Xander Cage is left for dead after an incident, though he secretly returns to action for a new, tough assignment with his handler Augustus Gibbons.

It’s kind of odd that the first movie had a worldwide box office gross of $277,488,382 whereas Pitch Black made $53,187,659 internationally and yet that has had two sequels with Diesel returning to the title role.

Why has it been so hard to get XXX 3 off the ground and if it ever does eventually get released, would you still be interested or has its time passed.?

It is tentatively scheduled for 2014 on IMDB, but frankly I’ll believe it when I see it. Personally, I think they took too long I would maybe leave the franchise to die.
