‘Fast and Furious’ Star Paul Walker Dead in Car Crash

The “Fast and Furious” actor Paul Walker was killed on Saturday after his Porsche crashed and exploded.

Walker is 40, and best known for starring multiple times in the “Fast and Furious” franchise. He is part of the cast of the latest in the series “Fast and Furious 7,” which is still filming.

TMZ cited sources close to the actor saying he was in Santa Clarita for a car show to support the Philippines typhoon relief effort, and had been taking friends out for rides in his new Porsche GT. The accident happened during one of those test spins. The sources told the site that another person besides Walker was in the car.

Walker was also a professional race car driver and his racing team, Always Evolving, was based in Valencia, on Constellation Rd., around the corner from the site of the accident.

Always Evolving was hosting a heavily-publicized holiday toy drive. Soon before the crash, the official Twitter account for Always Evolving posted pictures of several cars on display, including Porsches.

UPDATE

Paul’s rep just released a statement about his death, and says “He was a passenger in a friend’s car, in which both lost their lives.” Witnesses on the scene said the car was Paul’s … but also said he was in the passenger seat.

The rep added that Paul was “attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide.”
