Homefront Script Was Originally Meant to be Rambo V

Here’s an interesting little tidbit; did you know that the new Jason Statham movie ‘Homefront’ was originally going to be ‘Rambo V’? That’s why the screenplay was by Sylvester Stallone.

In a recent interview with the Miami Herald, Statham discussed the original idea.

I’ve made a few movies with Sly and we’ve got a lot of time on our hands, ya know [laughs]. He had this great movie that he’d written years ago for himself. Believe it or not, he was going to make it into a Rambo. But it went on the back burner. I loved it — it had the action, pulled on the heart strings. All the characters were interesting and cool. There was quality there.”

Upon watching the Homefront film, I think I prefer it in its current form but I do like the idea of Rambo trying to settle down but the place he chooses is filled with a bad element that needs to be sorted out… with huge guns and plenty of explosions.
