To Sequel or Not to Sequel: Bad Boys 3

Remember when Michael Bay actually made good action movies? No? Well he did, so there. The Rock and the Bad Boys movies I consider his best and I’m surprised we’ve never seen a third entry in the Bad Boys series.

The second movie is pretty well received from genre fans and the action scenes were literally spectacular. The freeway chase is one of the all-time classics and Will Smith/Martin Lawrence have some great buddy banter.

I’ve always preferred the first movie though as I thought Tcheky Karyo was a scary ass villain. Mark Mancina’s score was also more memorable than Part 2 with some great action cues.

Jerry Bruckheimer is apparently currently trying to put Bad Boys 3 together along with a potential fourth entry in the Beverly Hills Cop series. I’m not so interested in Beverly Hills Cop 4 as I don’t think Eddie Murphy has been funny for a very long time. It’s also been too long since the last entry, which was released in 1994.

For the Bad Boys series, it’s only been 10 years since part 2 so a third entry in the series is definitely an option.

Will it be any good? Who knows? But I would like to see Bay back to doing R-Rated action again and get rid of the juvenile humour which ruined Pain & Gain and the Transformers movies.

So, do you want Bad Boys 3? Or do you want to send Michael Bay into outer space?
