100 Essential Action Movies

This is probably long overdue as we’ve never really put a list together of the all-time greatest action movies; although some of these might not be AMAZING movies, I love them for whatever reason and if you at least own a few of them, then your action credentials are safely in place.

I’m sure I’ll get a tirade of abuse for this post: “Why isn’t that on there?” or “why is THAT on there?” but hey, this is just my 100 fave actioners and if it’s not on the list then it’s not one of my favourites or I just haven’t seen it.

Although I love the Star Wars and Lord of the Rings movies, I consider them more Fantasy/Sci-Fi so I’ve omitted them as I’ve tried to keep this list as pure action if that makes sense.

I’ve actually struggled because I can’t decide what my favourite movie is but it’s between Die Hard, Raiders of the Lost Ark and Terminator 2.

This list is in alphabetical order rather than in terms of personal favourites.
