Footage from Cancelled Darth Maul Videogame

Dang! Now this is a game I would have been interested in; according to IGN Darth Maul was to have his own origin story in video game form. “Red Fly’s PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii U game would have been a stealth action game inspired by the Batman: Arkham Asylum style of gaming. LucasArts’ goal was to link the game, codenamed Damage, to an upcoming season of The Clone Wars, in which reintroduced the supposedly dead Maul via his brother, Savage Opress.

George Lucas himself shifted the direction of Damage drastically, with the story involving Darth Krayt and Darth Talon, known within Star Wars’ Dark Horse Comics canon.

This the development team confused about its future, according to Game Informer sources. Despite this, LucasArts allegedly considered purchasing Red Fly. When the buyout didn’t happen, LucasArts canceled Damage in 2011, forcing the studio to let go of 70 employees“.

I have to admit that I haven’t been into gaming for a few years but this looked rather cool and being the Star Wars nerd that I am I’d have to pick it up. I always enjoyed that Podracer game for The N64 and Bounty Hunter for the PS2 as well.

Anyway, this is only 30 odd seconds long but it looks fun and it’s a shame we never got to see the finished product.
