JCVD’s ‘Swelter’ Gets U.S. Distribution

According to Variety ‘WellGo USA Entertainment has acquired North American rights to Jean-Claude Van Damme’s heist drama “Swelter.”

The film sold out all of its international markets following the American Film Market.

Story centers on a gang that steals more than $100 million from the Luxor Casino in Las Vegas. All but one of the five gang members are captured and jailed. Ten years later, after blasting their way out of a maximum security prison, the convicts go on the trail of their former accomplice – and the remaining $10 million in stolen cash.

The cast includes Alfred Molina, Lennie James, Catalina Sandino Moreno and Freya Tingley. Keith Parmar (“Mob Rules”) is directing from his own script.

Alan Simpson from Grand Peaks and Chris Ranta from The Exchange are producers; exec producers include Don Simpson from Grand Peaks and Nat McCormick, Laura Ivey and Brian O’Shea from The Exchange.

“Swelter” is the first completed movie financed by Exchange Peaks Film Capital, a fund created as a full-service specialty film fund financed by Grand Peaks and run by The Exchange.’

Does this mean we might actually get to see JCVD on the big screen once again? I sure hope so; it’s been too quiet without you, sir.
