Superman versus Batman logo and title.

The new official title to WB’s next instalment in the Superman (or should I say Justice League) series is: BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE.

I guess it doesn’t get much clearer than that! This is the first film in a series that will eventually lead to a Justice League movie.

I have to say I am excited. I am a fan of Synder (even Sucker Punch), and I think he really shines in adapting comic books. Man of Steel was a good re-introduction of Superman and a very good blend of Superman lore which incorporated a lot of “New 52” elements (New 52 refers to the current lineup of DC comics after the re-launch).

We also know (thanks to Kevin Smith) that the Batman costume will resemble his Gray and Black costume he wore in the Dark Knight Returns (and tons of other comics, including New 52). And the pattern of the belt and logo are also modelled on the Dark Knight Returns.

It would’ve been nice to call the film World’s Finest, which is the comic where Superman and Batman teamed up – however, the New 52 World’s Finest is actually Power Girl and Huntress, so I guess it wouldn’t fit with today’s readers.

I think Batman and Superman are the two greatest comic book characters and just seeing them finally together in live action may be enough for some viewers. I know that I personally am really excited for this and they would have to make a pretty bad movie for me not to like it.

At the very least it will give Marvel some competition!

Now – back to the hall of justice!
