‘The Raid’ remake delayed until 2015

Production on the remake of The Raid has been delayed until 2015.

Work on Patrick Hughes‘s adaptation of the Indonesian martial arts hit has been pushed back from September to the first quarter of next year, reports Variety.

The film is yet to cast it’s lead actor, with Luke Evans, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo and Ethan Hawke having been considered for the role. All fine actors, but not action stars.

It is speculated that the filmmakers are holding out for a more high-profile star, which of course is their mistake. Action fans want action movies with action stars. The first and only person who should be in contention for the lead role is Scott Adkins. Did action fans love The Raid and Raid 2? – yes. Is/was Iko Uwais a ‘high profile star’?  – no.

Remember the days when studios created stars? Every actor starts somewhere and with Scott’s already impressive resume, it is a no brainer!
