Who Should Play the British Spy in ‘London Has Fallen’?

I don’t know about anyone else but I’m already excited for the upcoming sequel to Olympus Has Fallen, currently titled London Has Fallen.

Gerard Butler is set to return as Mike Banning, the best Secret Service agent in the business. In this new sequel though, the story picks up in London, where the British Prime Minister has died under mysterious circumstances. His funeral is a must-attend event for leaders of the Western world.

But what starts out as the most protected event on the planet turns into a deadly plot to kill the world’s most powerful leaders. Only three people have any hope of stopping it: POTUS, his formidable Secret Service head (Butler), and an English MI-6 agent who trusts no one.

Now that has got me thinking and I have to give props to Mark Evans for giving me this idea. An MI6 agent? Well, we’ll need some Brit badasses for that, so who could play him? Here are a few choices from me.

6. Daniel Craig

Well this is purely a bit of fan fiction but imagine if said MI6 agent was in fact James Bond; it will never happen but it’d be pretty rad if it was. They would have to lower the violence and swearing though for it to be PG-13 which would be lame so that’s why this is at the bottom of the list.

5. Tom Hardy

I always thought Hardy could actually be a great Bond but as Craig doesn’t seem to be retiring him any time soon then I say stick him in this movie. If Antione Fuqua is looking for a suave, Bond –style secret agent then Hardy could be excellent.

4. Christian Bale

He’s not Batman any more and Bale has long since proven himself adept at the action genre, so I’d love to see him try a secret agent role. The fact that he is also an excellent actor means that he could bring a bit of gravitas to proceedings. If successful he could even have his own spin-off series. We could call his character James… Bond….wait, that’s already been done. Dammit.

3. Luke Goss

Luke Goss is one of the hardest working Brits in the business today and with recent actioners like Dead Drop and the Death Race movies, we already know how awesome he is in the action genre. There is a Facebook page dedicated to him becoming the next James Bond but if that isn’t going to happen than how about giving him a shot in this? It would be great to see him in a blockbuster like London Has Fallen.

2. Scott Adkins

The most underrated action hero working today, Adkins needs to star in a big budget action picture so he can finally become the huge star he deserves to be. For this sequel, it would be cool to have Adkins have a full on martial arts fight with the bad guy for an explosive finale. In fact, how about the bad guy be Michael Jai White and we have ourselves and Undisputed 2 reunion?

1. Jason Statham

The Stath is probably my number 1 choice; too rugged and bald to play James Bond, this is an ideal opportunity for him to play a different kind of British spy. As stated above, the character has been defined as a man who “trusts no one” so Jason Statham could do this kind of role in his sleep. I love the idea of he and Gerard Butler out-badassing each other and maybe throwing a few one-liners around too. Mid-way through, they should have some trust issues and possibly fight each other before a greater threat comes along. You know the drill. Also, I just want to see Statham in movies which actually make money so I’m hoping after Fast 7 next year, he becomes a box office star.

So those are my main choices; Adkins and Statham are my personal favourites as they are both more than capable at kicking ass and seeing either of them teaming up with Butler to take down some baddies would be awesome; make it happen Antoine.
