Jerry Bruckheimer on Top Gun 2

This seems to be the week for sequels to classic action movies, with Simon West discussing Con Air 2 the other day.

This time it’s legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer who talked with Total Film about what direction he’d like to take the story.

The technology has changed the world” says Bruckheimer of the modern military technology he’s currently working into the treatment. “Maverick can think on his feet where drones can’t… Tom’s older, he’s more experienced – the same way a fighter pilot would be.”

I must say I love the idea of introducing drone technology and you could really come up with something special, not to mention action-packed.

Tom Cruise hasn’t exactly been box office gold recently with the incredibly underrated Edge of Tomorrow not even breaking $100 million domestically.

He is in need of a hit and returning to the movie that put him on the A-List might be an interesting idea. Top Gun is still as enjoyable now as it was back in 1986 and there’s never been a plane-related movie that has ever come close to it since.

Do you guys want a Top Gun 2 or should it stay in the 80’s?
