Simon West Talks Con Air 2

It’s no secret that Con Air is one of my all time favourite movies; when it first came out I saw it 5 times in the cinema.

It had the right amount of action, comedy, cheese and epic electric guitar music rolled into one awesome package.

Let’s not forget it had Nic Cage’s awesome mullet of righteousness in it too.

In a recent interview with Screen Daily, director Simon West discussed returning to the world of Con Air.

He responded: “There are always rumours about a Con Air 2.

“I would do it if it was completely turned on its head. Con Air in space, for example – a studio version where they’re all robots or the convicts are reanimated as super-convicts, or where the good guys are bad guys and the bad guys are good guys. Something shocking. If it was clever writing it could work.

In space? Really? Didn’t they already do that and call it Lock Out with Guy Pearce? There are lots of different ideas you could take in a Con Air sequel, but alas I think the ship has long since sailed and it’ll never happen.
