Cinedigm Signs Multi-Picture Deal With Status Media & Entertainment

Cinedigm (NASDAQ: CIDM) and Status Media & Entertainment     announced today they have entered into a multi-picture partnership for the production of high concept action feature films to be delivered over the  next 24 months.   Cinedigm will have all rights to the films, including theatrical, digital, television and DVD.  Additionally, content will be available for delivery via Cinedigm’s OTT channel portfolio, including CONtv.

“Filmmaking is both an art and a business,” says Timothy Woodward Jr, President & CEO of Status Media & Entertainment.  “This deal allows us to reach new creative heights by producing a slate of high concept, cast-driven action films.  We’ve built a reputation for producing some of the most exciting action sequences in independent film (often done practically, not by CG) and we’re very proud of that distinction.”

“We are delighted to sign this multi-picture agreement with the very creative and forward-thinking folks at Status Media,” said Cinedigm President Bill Sondheim. “The deal underlines Cinedigm’s continued commitment to the multi-label co-production arrangements we have been forging over the past year, each providing us with all North American rights, a crucial advantage as the landscape of rights exploitation continues to evolve.”

“We cast some of the biggest names in the action feature film genre,” says Lauren de Normandie, COO of Status Media. “Global audiences love our action star casts, which have included names such as Danny Glover, Ving Rhames, Vinnie Jones, Danny Trejo, Sean Astin, Mischa Barton, Tom Sizemore, Estella Warren, and Michael Paré.  We will continue that high profile casting tradition in future Cinedigm projects.”

“Cinedigm is aggressively acquiring content with a global appeal,” says Mark Kashden, Cinedigm’s Senior Vice President of Acquisitions.  “In a very short time and through astute casting and the highest production values, Status Media has become one of the most bankable action film producers in the business.  They’re a natural partner for us and we are very confident about our future slate.”

“These are exciting times, and we are looking forward to a long and successful relationship with Cinedigm,” says Executive Producer Craigar Grosvenor of Puppy Entertainment Films, who works in collaboration with Status Media.
