Is Steve Austin Done with Action?

I have to admit that I am a huge fan of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s action movies; The Package, Hunt to Kill, The Condemned, Recoil and of course The Expendables are all massively entertaining.

He’d carved a nice little niche for himself in the genre  and he just fits the role of action star perfectly. I always look forward to seeing what he’s working on next and I was especially excited for a movie that was announced back in 2013.

Cast your mind back to early 2013 when we heard that Austin had signed up to star in Kill Em All, John, with him playing an ex-hitman pulled back into the underworld to “retire” a number of crime bosses as the clock ticks.

Filming was set to begin that summer with Jesse Johnson at the helm and yet… nothing.  I can’t find any word on the status of the film; perhaps it ran out of funding or other projects came up but it’s a shame as this sounded rather cool.

Steve was also rumoured to star in Close Range which as you all know now will star Scott Adkins with Isaac Florentine behind the wheel.

There hasn’t been any word of Kill Em All, John or any other action movie since.

On Austin’s IMDB page he has several spots on WWE and a part in The Smoosh movie, which doesn’t sound particularly actiony.

He is practically impossible to get an interview with too; literally I have been trying since I started this site 3 years ago and it would be easier to get an audience with The Pope.

Austin has apparently been busy doing his own podcast “The Steve Austin Show Unleashed” where he chats with fellow WWE stars and seems quite happy with what he’s doing.

Well I’m sorry Steve, but there are necks needing broken and heads that need exploding. So come back to the action genre and kick some ass for us again.

If anyone has any updates on Kill Em All, John please let me know.

I grew up watching JCVD, Sly and Arnold destroy bad guys, blow things up and spew one-liners like it's a fashion statement. Action is everything I go to the movies for and the reason I came up with this site is to share my love for the genre with everyone. We also want to help promote new talent whether you're making blockbusters, low-budget Indie movies or fan films; if it's action, it's awesome.

Forgotten Sequel: Road House 2 (2006)

Everyone loves the Patrick Swayze classic Road House; that’s just a fact… unless you’re weird. Anyway, few people actually still talk about its sequel Road House 2: Last Call starring Johnathon Schaech, Richard Norton, Ja...

Watching Die Hard as a Chess Game

Watching the action classic Die Hard the other day, it dawned on me why I liked it so much. Yeah, it’s great to see Bruce Willis yippie-ki-yay around, taking on all the bad guys in his bare feet, and barely escaping peril eve...
