R.I.P. Darren Shahlavi

It’s with deep sadness that we report that actor Darren Shalahvi has passed away.

I’m not sure about the details surrounding his death but I am frankly devastated.

The following post was on his Facebook page by Bobby Shahlavi:

It is with immense sadness we have to inform you all of the news of the death of our dearest Darren Shahlavi. Darren dared to dream and was brave enough to follow his dreams and make them a reality. He wanted to be a movie star! Sounds crazy right? But he made it happen. He fulfilled so many of his career ambitions and acted along side and met many of his childhood heroes and screen legends including Donnie Yen, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Sammo Hung, Robin Williams & George Clooney to name just a few. He was a kind, honest and decent human being. You will be missed my dear Darren, by family, friends, colleagues and many fans. You are a legend and a legend never dies. Your films and your legacy will live on forever and you will always remain in our hearts. We are all so proud of you and you will continue to inspire us all for generations. Sleep well Darren and keep on dreaming. Love you always… Your family X

“Everyone of us has their struggles, but like an Iceberg we never know how deep they may be. Take your time to care, to reach out, even if it is with a complete stranger you never know the difference it might make” (Darren’s tribute to Robin Williams)

He was always a complete gentleman and was one of the first interviews I did for this site.

He had recently completed work on Pound of Flesh with Jean-Claude Van Damme but had also worked with Donnie Yen on Ip Man 2, Gary Daniels on Bloodmoon, Steve Austin and Dolph Lundgren on The Package and many more.

All around Facebook I am seeing so many other lives that he touched; deepest condolences to Mr. Shahlavi’s family.

R.I.P. Darren, you will be missed.

A Memorial fund has been set up for his family to “cover costs of arranging a funeral in the UK, followed by a memorial service in the US. This fund will help with the considerable expenses related to transporting Darren back to the UK – and helping the family with the associated costs of traveling from the UK to the US and back. The Shahlavi family would also like to give Darren the Hollywood Memorial Service that he so rightly deserves, where his friends and colleagues can share in remembering his life. Any amount is helpful at this extremely difficult time. Our heartfelt thanks to everybody that is able to donate and to those who have sent messages of sympathy”.

I grew up watching JCVD, Sly and Arnold destroy bad guys, blow things up and spew one-liners like it's a fashion statement. Action is everything I go to the movies for and the reason I came up with this site is to share my love for the genre with everyone. We also want to help promote new talent whether you're making blockbusters, low-budget Indie movies or fan films; if it's action, it's awesome.
