Did The Flash Just Jump the Shark?

If you haven’t seen this week’s episode of The Flash then don’t read ahead as this has MAJOR SPOILERS!

There is always a moment when a TV show does something that makes you think “Aww hell no!” and I think this week’s Flash did it and it’s only in the first season.

So far I’ve been really enjoying the show; Grant Guston is really likeable as Barry Allen and the rest of the cast are all clearly enjoying themselves.

It’s more “fun” than Arrow and has more humour too with really “out there” villains.

Tuesday night’s episode was probably my favourite so far; it had real drama, amazing action scenes and was leading up to a thrilling cliffhanger. Then they brought in time travel; now I know in the comics this plays a big element and I don’t have a problem with it as a concept.

After such a great episode which had so much drama and important character moments, I just know they are going to completely undo everything that happened with Barry going back in time. He will somehow stop the Weather Wizard from creating the tsunami, he won’t kiss Iris, Dr. Wells won’t reveal his true identity and Cisco won’t die.

To me this removes all drama from the show and now we know that as soon as anything major happens, Barry can just run fast and go back in time and rectify it.

This will inevitably lead to Barry working on getting the right speed so he can go back and save his mother so he can live happily ever after; of course things never work out that way and will only lead to more head-scratching as travelling through time only ever creates more problems.

Anyway, I really hope I’m wrong and this isn’t the case because if they undo everything that happened this week then I may stop watching the show. Yeah, I know it’s a superhero show and shouldn’t expect serious drama but the episode was so good that it took the show to a whole other level which will ruin it if undone.

I hope I’m wrong and this isn’t the case but I guess I’ll just have to tune in next week to find out.
