Kill Count: The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996)

The Long Kiss Goodnight is one of my favourite action movies from the 90’s and it was unfairly overlooked a the box office.

Plot: Schoolteacher and single mother Samantha Caine (Geena Davis) lives an average suburban life — until she begins having strange memories of unexplained violence and discovers that she has physical skills that she never imagined. Hiring private detective Mitch Hennessey (Samuel L. Jackson) to probe into her past, Samantha discovers that she’s a well-trained government assassin who went missing after suffering a bout of amnesia and that her former handlers want her back in their employ.

A cracking script from Shane Black, explosive action from director Renny Harlin and likeable leads in Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson make it a bit of an action classic. It also has one of the best kill lines ever “Die screaming motherfucker!” You go girl!

The bad guy Timmy! (Craig Bierko)is fabulously over the as well with some choice lines.

Quite a few people are killed in a violent fashion in The Long Kiss Goodnight so let’s take a look at just how many bad guys met their doom at the hands of Geena Davis and Samuel L. Jackson courtesy of YouTube user Bob Smith.

Geena Davis: Kill Count: 30

Samuel L. Jackson: Kill Count 5

30 – 5 is pretty embarrassing Mr. Jackson proving that sometimes the best man for the job is indeed a woman. Well played Geena.

I grew up watching JCVD, Sly and Arnold destroy bad guys, blow things up and spew one-liners like it's a fashion statement. Action is everything I go to the movies for and the reason I came up with this site is to share my love for the genre with everyone. We also want to help promote new talent whether you're making blockbusters, low-budget Indie movies or fan films; if it's action, it's awesome.
