The Raid Remake Cancelled?

In a piece of rather excellent news, it looks like the remake that nobody wanted, The Raid has been postponed indefinitely according to its star Frank Grillo.

Slash Film spoke to Frank this week who stated “The Raid was a go movie and there was one character, the critical character, that they were just not happy with. There’s not a lot of 30-something guys out there that… there’s a lot of training, a lot of martial arts training. They weren’t going to remake The Raid, which is a beloved film, if they couldn’t find a guy who could find the physical stuff and they hadn’t been able to do that. So I think we’re going to come back around after I’m done with the second 10 [episodes of Kingdom]. We’re going to come back around to that.”

Taylor Kitsch also nearly signed on: “They came kind of close,” Grillo said. “Then he took True Detective.”

I remember a few months back Grillo took to Twitter also saying: “Watching my boy Iko Uwais in The Raid. There’s no way I’m doing a remake. Couldn’t do it justice.”

I have to say that I hope the remake stays dead; there is no way it would possibly live up to the original unless they actually cast real martial arts stars (Scott Adkins anyone?)

I grew up watching JCVD, Sly and Arnold destroy bad guys, blow things up and spew one-liners like it's a fashion statement. Action is everything I go to the movies for and the reason I came up with this site is to share my love for the genre with everyone. We also want to help promote new talent whether you're making blockbusters, low-budget Indie movies or fan films; if it's action, it's awesome.
