Predator 4 Is A Go

Predator 4 is definitely happening – and that’s either very good news or very bad news, depending on your point of view.

The long-gestating follow-up to the 1980s sci-fi film was first tipped in June 2014, amid reports that Iron Man 3 director Shane Black was plotting a Predator sequel rather than a reboot.

Progress appears to be moving steadily ahead on that front, judging by a Facebook message from Black’s co-writer Fred Dekker.

Along with a child’s drawing of the Predator, Dekker teased: “A character from the new screenplay we just turned in. Art by Angus Herndon, age 7.”

Dekker is of course the  visionary behind Night of the Creeps and classic horror comedy The Monster Squad.

For his part, director Shane Black is no stranger to the franchise – having acted in the original movie and contributed to its screenplay.

Fans of the Predator series will no doubt remember Hollywood’s last attempt at a reboot was the much-maligned Adrien Brody starrer Predators.

Before that, two Aliens vs Predator crossover movies were also released to less-than-stellar reviews.

The original 1987 Predator starred Arnold Schwarzenegger as a special forces officer on the run from a vicious alien life form.
