Short Film: Eliza

We were contacted by Mikko Löppönen about his short revenge film entitled Eliza and the Indiegogo campaign for it.

SYNOPSIS: Eliza is an homage to brilliant Revenge- films of the past. We are going to do a very stylized piece of work that hearkens back to the best eighties action films with the style of modern film making (Drive is a good example of the atmosphere we would create in the full 30 minute film). We have several interesting characters from bad guys to good guys, it would not just be Eliza doing her thing for 30 minutes but will have an actual story arc and progression with several characters interacting.

You can check out the 7 minute short below but this is also considered a Proof of Concept film to get the idea for a longer piece which may be nearer 30 minutes.

Here are some details of what the campaign would involve.

The actual short film would obviously not just feature killing for 30 minutes, that would not work. It will have characters with backgrounds, motives and conflicts. It will not just be a rehash of this proof-of-concept.

I am Mikko Löppönen, the director of ELIZA. If you enjoyed our proof-of-concept video, you will absolutely LOVE the full 30 minutes we have planned. We have dialogue in both finnish and english (finnish parts subtitled) and a very unique and stylish but still simple story. We will show Helsinki and the rest of Finland in a very different light than previous films have done.

This campaign is meant to provide us funds to do the following:

1. Best action scenes in a Finnish film yet. In Finland we generally don’t get good action. Our aim is to change that and not in a hokey way.

2. Lots of practical effects. For this little amount of money we can make a couple of really awesome things (we have a great shootout planned with awesome rhythm and characters, and of course we need to blow up shit)

3. Pay some of our crew at least a little bit. Everyone is doing this out of passion, but  we need to at least contribute for some lost time!

I grew up watching JCVD, Sly and Arnold destroy bad guys, blow things up and spew one-liners like it's a fashion statement. Action is everything I go to the movies for and the reason I came up with this site is to share my love for the genre with everyone. We also want to help promote new talent whether you're making blockbusters, low-budget Indie movies or fan films; if it's action, it's awesome.

I forgot this movie was even happening but I’m hoping Seagal is more than a glorified cameo and is one of the main stars; judging by the trailer it looks like his role may be small but it’s cool to see Mike Tyson pu...
