Who Should be Cast in Lionheart Remake?

LIONHEART, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Abdel Qissi, 1990, (c)Universal

As we all know there has been talk of a remake of the Jean-Claude Van Damme classic Lionheart for a while now and whether you like or not it is now happening.

Moonstone Entertainment and producer Etchie Stroh apparently have the remake listed in pre-production and scheduled to shoot before the end of the year.

No word yet on who would be cast but surely it has to be Scott Adkins?

He would certainly be my first choice but I have a few other ideas which would be out of left field.

Obviously they would need to change the character of Leon to not be French foreign legion but rumour has it the action will be taking place in Hong Kong this time around. So screw it; I say Donnie Yen or move it to Indonesia/Thailand and have Iko Uwais or Tony Jaa.

What about Marko Zaror? We all know he’s got the fighting skills required for the role and like Scott he deserves to be a bigger star.

Michael Jai White could also do it but I think it’s a bit too similar a role to Blood and Bone.

Rising star Paul Logan has the action chops and could easily bring the badassery to the role too.

One of our fans suggested Johnny Strong and after watching Daylight’s End last week he would be an excellent choice as he has some serious martial arts skills too.

Those are a few ideas off the top of my head; who would you like to see?

Obviously it would be cool to see JCVD in it in some capacity like he is doing with the Kickboxer reboot but we’ll see…

I grew up watching JCVD, Sly and Arnold destroy bad guys, blow things up and spew one-liners like it's a fashion statement. Action is everything I go to the movies for and the reason I came up with this site is to share my love for the genre with everyone. We also want to help promote new talent whether you're making blockbusters, low-budget Indie movies or fan films; if it's action, it's awesome.
