An Evening with Donnie Yen

Saturday, May 7th 2016 will be a day long remembered by me; it was the day I finally got to meet martial arts legend Donnie Yen.

He is currently in Toronto filming XXX 3 and was invited to do a Q&A with a screening of his movie Wu-Xia AKA Dragon. As you can imagine the Royal theatre in Toronto was packed with fans and when Donnie showed up he didn’t disappoint.

I never got to see Wu-Xia on the big screen before so sitting with like minded fans knowing we were going to meet the man himself afterwards was a special day indeed.

I have some video footage from the Q and A courtesy of YouTube user lilPopper which I’ve posted below.

Donnie discusses his thoughts on CG in action movies, the worst injury he has received and more. Enjoy!

Below is a photo of Donnie and myself; I can say without a word of a lie that it is one of the few times when I have been starstruck. I’ve met a lot of people from Jean-Claude Van Damme to Arnold Schwarzenegger but there was something about Donnie that just blew me away. He is humble, funny and immensely talented and I can’t wait to see what he brings to Star Wars later this year.
