Max Zhang to Star in Ip Man Spin Off

One of the best things about the recent Ip Man 3 was Max Zhang who played Cheung Tin Chi.

According to Asian Film Strike Zhang will star in a spin-off entitled Ip Man Unofficial which is set to be directed by the legendary Yuen Woo Ping.

Twitch mentioned last year that during filming of Ip Man 3, while filming one of the fight scenes, the blade that Zhang was holding got too close to Donnie Yen’s nose, causing it to be lacerated.

Zhang immediately rushed over to apologize and offer help by applying ice and antiseptic spray.

Yen commented afterwards that it was only a minor injury and he didn’t feel any pain, and that the accident only proves that all the actors in Ip Man 3 are giving everything they’ve got in order to create the best fight scenes. He rested for one night and returned to work the next day.

Max Zhang recently stole the show in Kill Zone/SPL 2 as the villainous Ko Hung and it’s great to see his career going from strength to strength.
