Dolby Cinema Arrives in Beijing at Jackie Chan Cinema

Jackie Chan Cinema, owned by Sparkle Roll, and Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (NYSE:DLB) today announced the opening of Beijing’s first Dolby Cinema™ at Jackie Chan Cinema’s Beijing Wukesong site. Moviegoers in Beijing can now enjoy the total cinema experience, following the grand opening ceremony conducted today with the preview of the Warner Bros. Pictures feature The Legend of Tarzan. Following the opening of its first site at Jackie Chan Cinema, Sparkle Roll plans to open 10 additional Dolby Cinema sites in China within the next two years.

Dolby Cinema, featuring Dolby Vision™ and Dolby Atmos®, is a premium cinema offering for exhibitors and moviegoers that combines spectacular image and sound technologies with inspired design to make every visit a completely captivating cinematic event.

“Introducing Dolby Cinema at Jackie Chan Cinema’s Beijing Wukesong site is a significant step toward offering a premium experience to moviegoers in Beijing,” said Doug Darrow, Senior Vice President, Cinema Business Group, Dolby Laboratories. “We look forward to our continued growth with Jackie Chan Cinema and are committed to delivering the best-in-class solution to audiences around China.”

Following the release of the Warner Bros. Pictures title The Legend of Tarzan (China release date: July 19, 2016), the Twentieth Century Fox title Ice Age: Collision Course is confirmed to be released for Dolby Cinema in China (on August 23, 2016), with more titles coming soon.

“Jackie Chan Cinema’s Beijing Wukesong attracts passionate moviegoers, and the opening of a new Dolby Cinema will give our loyal patrons an immersive experience that is special to our theatres,” said Patrick Zhao, President, Sparkle Roll Cultural Industry Development Limited. “With its powerful sound and imaging technologies combined with its unique design that only Dolby Cinema delivers, we are confident that this site will be the destination for the ultimate movie enthusiast.”

Dolby Cinema features the Dolby Vision laser projection system, which uses state-of-the-art optics and image processing to deliver high dynamic range with enhanced color technology and a contrast ratio that far exceeds that of any other image technology on the market today. The result is a richer, more detailed viewing experience that delivers strikingly vivid and realistic images and makes viewers feel like they are in the movie’s world.

Dolby Cinema also includes Dolby Atmos sound technology, which moves audio around the theatre, even overhead, with amazing richness and depth. The combination of Dolby® technologies with the design and comfort of the Dolby Cinema makes audiences feel closer to the onscreen action.

Since its launch in April 2015, more than 200 Dolby Cinema sites have been installed or committed to across the globe, with 31 Dolby Cinema sites currently in operation.
