The Abyss Finally Coming to Blu-ray

Just a few months ago I was asking why the underrated James Cameron movie The Abyss had never been released on Blu-ray; surely a movie with such stunning visuals deserves the HD treatment.

Well according to Variety James Cameron has announced a 4K restoration and Blu-ray release of the movie which is set to come out in 2017.

“We’ve done a wet-gate 4K scan of the original negative, and it’s going to look insanely good,” Cameron said. “We’re going to do an authoring pass in the DI for Blu-ray and HDR at the same time.”

Synopsis: A civilian oil rig crew is recruited to conduct a search and rescue effort when a nuclear submarine mysteriously sinks. One diver (Ed Harris) soon finds himself on a spectacular odyssey 25,000 feet below the ocean’s surface where he confronts a mysterious that has the power to change the world or destroy it. Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio and Michael Biehn co-star.

Bring it on! Now about that True Lies Blu-ray release…

I grew up watching JCVD, Sly and Arnold destroy bad guys, blow things up and spew one-liners like it's a fashion statement. Action is everything I go to the movies for and the reason I came up with this site is to share my love for the genre with everyone. We also want to help promote new talent whether you're making blockbusters, low-budget Indie movies or fan films; if it's action, it's awesome.
