Greetings valued readers of The Action Elite. Danny Templegod here with the announcement and news that the submissions to the 3rd annual Widescreen Film & Music Video festival are in full swing! The cool thing is, the fest is also open for demo reels, and short films! Although I have attended the first two years, this year is my first judging year. All selections submitted are randomly judged, however, as a supporter of indie action the past 20 yrs, I fully encourage the creators of original content to submit their action, acting, or stunt demo to the official submissions site on Film Freeway.
Final deadline is November 30th 2016, though, an early deadline of October 30th will save a bit. The feature top photo is the location on the Awards Show!
A bit about the festival: The Widescreen fest takes place in Miami, Fl February 16th thru 19th 2017. The selected films will screen at the AMC Aventura 24, in Miami. The mall that the theater is in is the 3rd largest in the U.S.! The films all screen on February 18th. There are seminars scheduled to take place the two days prior with a night club event also in the planning stages.
The most spectacular awards show in the country, yes I said it, takes place on a private yacht, The South Beach Lady, on Sunday February 19th 2017. The show will sell out! As soon as tickets are available, a link will be posted. Here is the event page, please click on either interested or going to be informed of the show details: https://www.facebook.com/events/241913059493659/
Winners get an actual trophy and it is sizable and gold plated statue. If the winners cannot make the awards show, trophies will be mailed out.
At this year’s fest in March, Jesse V Johnson’s ‘The Beautiful Ones’ took home several awards including one for Jesse as best director, proving that The Widescreen fest is receptive to action film makers!
The Widescreen Fest encourages creativity, and has all the trimmings of a ritzy festival in California, Paris, or New York, yet with roots in the independent community it is accessible to all people. Festival director Jarrod Knowles a recent F.I.U. Grad is committed to make The Widescreen Festival grow and continue to strive to reach talented film makers all over the world. Currently, The Widescreen Fest is rated #1 of ALL 4,000 plus film festivals on Film Freeway for approval rating! A crowning achievement, yet not resting on laurels, the festival strives to grow each year. Below is a photo of Jarrod with the amazing statues!

Looking forward to check out new action films and demos! As an added bonus, I will select one winner, who I will pay the fee to submit to the widescreen fest, provided the winner submits to me prior to November 15th, independent short films and demos only. This way there is more then enough time for me to evaluate. If you have submitted your film to the fest please let me know! Stand tall and be creative!
