Classic Action Scenes in Film

For many film goers, extreme action is one of the reasons they view certain movies.

The jaw dropping scenes often generate a lot of excitement among viewers. Some top action scenes emerge from these films as noteworthy examples.

Even though Bond can most likely be seen at the casino table or maybe even on his phone playing playing mobile casino games. The opening scene of this Bond installment has the spy chasing a villain into a construction site. Here, Bond battles him at a height of 200 feet off the ground. The stunt was actually performed by actor, Daniel Craig, who was making his first appearance as Bond. The film showed Craig as he leaped between cranes. The scene has been one of the more classic stunts through the years.

Speed, 1994

Keanu-Reeves-Speed-1994

In this heart stopping film, Keanu Reeves is driving a bus through town. While this may not seem too out of the ordinary, consider the fact that a bomb is on board and will explode if the bus’s speed drops below 50 MPH.  An impressive jump occurs in the film where the bus becomes airborne over a gap in the freeway. Of course, the landing is successful.

Saving Private Ryan, 1998

While this particular film is based on historic events, the addition of colour to the Normandy beaches brings whole new dimension to the event.  The most thrilling scene in this film is the Normandy landing. This powerful scene leaves viewers emotionally drained as they see the hell of World War II on the big screen.

Die Hard, 1988

When Detective McClane jumps from the top of Nakatomi Plaza, movie viewers were left breathless wondering how he would fair. Of course, he did wrap a fire hose around his waist in an effort to provide himself with some sort of anchor.

With new technology being developed, it will be interesting to see how action stunts in films may change, possibly adding new films to this list.
