While the stars of action films get all the glory, accolades and shine on the red carpet, sometimes the directors and action coordinators often are in the shadows as they are either too busy working, or are low key for the recognition of their craft. Director Antony Szeto caught my eye a couple of years ago, orchestrating a magnum opus in indie action: ‘Fist Of The Dragon’. Although it is a small film budget wise, Antony got the most out of his cast and crew on the limited budget.
Fast forward two years, after ‘Fist of The Dragon’ wins awards at Action on Film Fest, and Antony is in the process of working on the 150mil budget ‘Meg’ film, the time has come to shall we say unleash his skill! Check out the above photo of Antony with action director Trung Ly and star Juju Chan at the AOF awards show. Antony has a calm demeanor and can work under pressure with the skill and grace of a man with many more years of experience. Meeting him at the Action On Film Fest, I had the chance at some quiet time and to reflect on his past and get an idea of his future in action. Having recently completed work on ‘Ghost in the Shell’, and working on ‘Meg’ watch for Antony to explode onto the scene in 2017 with a variety of new action projects.
In the meantime, please check out his exclusive interview on Dan’s Movie Report where Antony goes into detail about ‘Fist of The Dragon’:
Antony also is a fitness coach, and is in the process of developing a exercise routine for people over 40. Check out his official Facebook page and twitter feeds for more information.
